PCA hits leadoff, walk-off HRs to reach 30-30 again

Pete Crow-Armstrong is simply unbelievable.

The Chicago Cubs superstar clinched his second straight 30-30 season in dramatic fashion Monday, launching two home runs - a leadoff homer, and then a two-run walk-off blast in the 10th - to beat the crosstown rival Chicago White Sox 7-5 at Wrigley Field.

Crow-Armstrong came into the game with 28 homers and 30 steals. He wasted no time belting No. 29, jumping on White Sox starter Luis Castillo's first pitch of the game and sending it into the right-field bleachers.

Crow-Armstrong is the seventh player in history to hit both a leadoff and walk-off homer in the same game, and the first since the Arizona Diamondbacks' Chris Young in 2010, according to Christopher Kamka of Marquee Sports Network.

The 22-year-old is now one of seven players to post consecutive 30-30 seasons, joining Willie Mays (1956-57), Bobby Bonds (1977-78), Ron Gant (1990-91), Vladimir Guerrero (2001-02), Bobby Witt Jr. (2023-24), and Barry Bonds (three straight from 1995-97), per Stathead.

Crow-Armstrong remains one of two Cubs players in the 30-30 club. Sammy Sosa achieved the feat in 1993 and 1995.

The two-time All-Star torched the White Sox, going 4-for-5 with three RBIs, two runs scored, and a stolen base.

Crow-Armstrong is now hitting .281/.379/.550 with 30 homers, 78 RBIs, 31 steals, and 62 extra-base hits across 126 games this year. His .929 OPS ranks second in the National League, trailing only Shohei Ohtani.
