Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon became the 100th player in NHL history to record 1,000 career points in Monday's 3-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

MacKinnon reached the milestone with an assist on Artturi Lehkonen's third-period goal, which opened the scoring in the game.

It looked like MacKinnon had picked up his 1,000th point in the first period with an assist on a Martin Necas tally, but that was overturned on review.

MacKinnon is the second player to reach 1,000 points this season: Connor McDavid achieved the feat back in November. McDavid was the fourth fastest in NHL history to do so, needing just 659 games. MacKinnon, meanwhile, hit the mark in his 856th career contest.
